The 2008 University of Ulster Foyle Cup takes place in Derry City, Northern Ireland and surrounding areas July 22nd - 26th. The competition features clubs from 4 continents and provides competitive tournament football for children and youth aged 10-18.
In 2008, a grand total of 112 teams are competing - making this the largest ever competition hosted.
The tournament runs initially in group stages, allowing teams to be seeded based on ability prior to the knock-out competions. The best clubs at each age compete for the prestigious Foyle Cup title, with all other teams being placed in subsidery tournaments against teams of similar ability. Every team continues to play matches up until the final day.
Finals are split over two days - with the Under 10 & 11 competitions finishing on Friday afternoon with the Under 18's finishing that evening. The Under 12, 14 & 16 age groups finish with Super Saturday finals being played in succession on Saturday afternoon at a Professional club's home pitch.
